How To Create the Best Plan To Crush Your Goals

Short on time or want to save have these tips on hand for the future, pin for later.
How to create a plan and crush your goals

“I want to be successful at…” “I want to do…” “I want to be…”

Sound familiar? I bet you have heard yourself say this many times over the years. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but guess what?

Simply saying “I want to” is not enough.

Many dreams and goals never come to fruition because there is no plan put into action. You can have the best ideas, but an idea without a plan is just a wish.

But good news, if you get focused, get create a plan, and put action behind those plans then you can achieve anything.

Ask yourself this…

What is one goal that you have set in your life and accomplished? What did you have to do to accomplish your goal? How did you feel once you reached this goal?

For me, one of my successful goals was the writing and publishing of my books. Since I can remember, I always wanted to write a book. In fact, many times over the years I would start to write books and stop. Brainstorm ideas and stop. Complete books and then never do anything with them.

That was until one day a few years ago I was thinking about my upcoming birthday, and realizing that there was so much more I wanted to accomplish in my life that what I was doing. I don’t know what it is, but for some reason when you reach your mid-30’s, you start reflecting over your life and realize that maybe, just maybe you want to do a little more.

So that is what I did. I pulled out a book I had written a long time ago, buckled down, and got serious about putting my plans in motion. One thing I did was commit to working at least 30 minutes each day on updating my book, editing sections, and further developing the content and promotional materials.

My mother served as a second pair of eyes and assisted me with proofreading, editing, and making suggestions for improvement. I did my research on self-publishing and learned all I needed in order to successfully publish my first book.

It took me months of hard work and dedication, but in 2017, on my birthday, I successfully released my first book, Rising Above: How To Overcome Obstacles & Achieve Success Against All Odds

Ironically, this book detailed my story and journey from a teen mom turned success. In this book, I talk about how I didn’t make the best choices as a teen and became a mom when I was just 17 years old. However, I refused to let being a teen mom stop me from reaching my goals no matter what society, the naysayers, and doubters may have thought.

Even though I was young, I put in the hard work and dedication so that I could reach goals. I made sacrifices and had to say “no” to many things, but it was all worth it on my journey towards achieving success.

I did what I had to do and made sacrifices so that I can get to where I am today. I could have easily accepted what society says about teen moms, but no I had goals, and I developed a plan and put it into action. In Rising Above Statistics: How to Overcome Obstacles and Achieve Success Against All Odds, I show how I create a plan and provide others with action steps to create their own unique plan to reach goals

I wouldn’t have reached my goal of publishing my book without committing to doing the work and making sacrifices. Likewise, I wouldn’t be here sharing this information with you on my blog, if I had not done the work to create my blog and start my business. And who knows if I would be doing any of this today if I didn’t have the determination as a teen to achieve success against all of the odds.

Goal planning fails when you stop at the planning phase. You do not put any action behind your goals. Then you let things like doubt, procrastination, poor time management, and lack of motivation become a roadblock.

You can do anything you put your mind to and your effort towards.

You succeed in goal planning when you believe, commit to do the hard work, develop a mindset of determination, learn to prioritize tasks, and most of all, refuse to give up.

With the right action behind your plans, you can reach your goals.

You have to be consistent. I have to be honest, consistency is one of my constant struggles, but I am determined to succeed. I recognize that I am one who likes to put all of my efforts into new ventures and then I move so fast, that I quickly burn out. Well not anymore, I have learned how to develop a plan to pace myself, therefore allowing me to be more consistent in an easier and simplistic fashion.

Lastly, find an accountability partner.

Of course, it is great to have the support of family and friends who are there to help you along the way, but an accountability partner is different. An accountability partner will help keep you on the right track. Try to find a partner with similar goals who can understand your pain points and you can help each other through the process.

I was lucky enough to find an accountability partner through a Facebook group. We met online and now check in with each other a few times a week. The both of us are working towards similar goals and dreams. This makes for a great partnership because we can understand things about each other that many others may not get. I suggest you get an accountability partner ASAP, it will be one of the most beneficial relationships you will have on your goal setting journey.
