My name is LaWann Moses and I am the author of “Rising Above: How to Overcome Obstacles & Achieve Success Against All Odds”. I am a Mom Empowerment Strategist and Digital Creator from Delaware. I help moms master their mindset and own their time so they can find the freedom to do more of the things they love and enjoy. I am the Creator and Host of the More Than a Mother podcast where we uplift, educate, and empower moms on their business and motherhood ventures.
I envision a nation of unstoppable and empowered moms who step into their power and realize they are More Than a Mother™ .
Here is a little of my backstory: Months before my high school graduation, I found myself pregnant and my college plans thwarted. I really didn’t know what I would do. I couldn’t go to college as planned with a baby coming. I had to get a job, and overnight I went from being a child with no responsibilities to someone’s mother. From there I was thrust into the world of teenage motherhood, lack, and poverty and soon depression took over my life. I lost all motivation for everything and found myself unavailable to my son emotionally and withdrawing from life altogether. One day I decided I was going to end my life. I dropped my son off at daycare and kissed him goodbye. I returned back to my apartment and was ready to end it all. But instead, I fell asleep on the couch. While I was sleeping my son appeared to me in a dream and said, “Mommy, don’t go. I need you.” I jumped up and realized I was still alone in the apartment, but I also realized I had to live. I had a son who needed me and if I couldn’t do it for myself I had to do it for him.
My life was not over, I just took a detour. Soon after I sought counseling, created a plan, and became determined to succeed. No, it wasn’t easy, but I had a mindset of determination, dreams, and goals to achieve and I refused to look back. Fast forward 18 almost 19 years and I have since obtained two degrees, a great career, and one day will transition into full-time entrepreneurship traveling the world empowering, inspiring, and uplifting nations of people.
This is just a glimpse of the early part of my story which I chronicled in my book “Rising Above: 10 Simple Steps to Achieving Success Against All Odds”. I now speak to groups about reflective self-discovery, personal transformation, and living a purpose-filled life. I am all about dream-living and goal-getting. I want to see everyone win and I use a message of hope, encouragement, and endurance to inspire all to get unstuck, create tangible action plans, and LIVE!
