Hey, it’s LaWann and I’m back with part number two of how my son saved my life. If you haven’t had a chance, head on over to the more than a mother podcast so that you can catch part one of this story. This story was the defining moment in my life that helped make me who I am today. So go ahead and take a listen to part two of how my son saved my life.

I immediately sought help in treatment from a psychiatry Once the therapy, officially diagnosed with depression, and they started me on medication, since my depression went undiagnosed for years, my official diagnosis was postpartum depression, that transition into general depression over the years. Through my treatment and my therapy sessions, I felt better and better every day. I felt new energy as if I had a new life. I know God was with me on the day those suicidal thoughts flooding my mind. He stepped in, took control and showed me Yes, you can make it. God show me that no matter how hard or did my situation. I couldn’t make it. Today, I give you that same message now that God gave me then. You may feel hopeless, helpless.

You may cry from sunrise to sunset and all night long. You may feel judged and fail naysayers, you may think you are just another statistic, a teenage mother dependent upon the system for the rest of your life. Or a woman feeling bad for past decisions and the life you now live. You may not like the path your life has taken, you may hate what or who you have become. You may just hate life right now. Nevertheless, I want you to hear me when I tell you this, I want you to pay close attention when I say the pain you are feeling now is temporary. And repeat. The pain you are feeling right now, at this moment as I’m reading this excerpt from my book as you are relating to everything that I am saying to you, as you are Yes girl and I can relate. I’ve been there. This is me right now. wherever you are. I want you to know the pain you are feeling right now is temporary Temporary, temporary pain. This is just a snapshot moment in your life. It is a temporary hardship and one moment in the grand scheme of your life. This is not your end. This is not the end of your story.

Now there is nothing so bad in life that you have to harm yourself or your child or anyone around you. This moment right here is a pivotal period in your life and you have the ability to change your situation. You have the ability to transform, you do not have to choose death. You do not have to choose a permanent solution for a temporary problem. Today I want you to choose to live, choose life, not just going through the motions of life, the same routine, but make the choice to thrive. Live, I want you to choose life. I understand it’s difficult. You do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. You cannot see your way through. You do not know how you’re going to do it. But you can get it done. You just have to take one step forward towards living. Find a motivational source. If you do not feel you can live for you. Then live for that special person and your life. Let your child be your motivation. Let that special someone be your motivation. Live for that precious one that you carry for months and labor to deliver the towel that you birthed into this world. Your child does not care how stressed you are. You are mommy and your child needs you. Your child will be your biggest cheerleader along the way. It may help you to keep a picture of your child with you at all times. For the moments when you feel like letting go. When you want to give up, pull that picture out and I want you to hear your child say as I heard mine say to me in that dream, :Mommy, don’t go, I need you”.

Depression is real, and you do not have to be ashamed. If you are experienced any centrals with depression, I encourage you to seek professional medical help. Many states have a 211 program where you pick up your phone, dial 211 and there will be an operator to assist you in finding the appropriate services to meet your needs. If you have depressed or suicidal thoughts have attempted suicide in the past or actively thinking of following through with plans commit suicide, there is help for you. killing yourself is not the answer. Your child needs you, your family needs you and you need you. Remember, this is just a temporary situation, temporary pain, and you do not have to look for a permanent solution by ending your life. There is hope on the other side, there is hope for you there is help for you.

If you are feeling any of these feelings, I want you to stop right now, I want you to contact the National Suicide Prevention hotline at 1-800-273-8255 or jump onto your computer, head to Google search for the National Prevention hotline and connect with someone right now. There is someone that is waiting to help you, someone waiting to assist you in getting the help that you need so that you can make it So that you can live. And there you had it. That is an excerpt from my book rising above 10 simple steps to achieving success against all odds. If you don’t have the book, I encourage you to head over to Amazon and pick it up. I hope that it motivated you and that by sharing my story, you see that you too can live. It hasn’t always been like this for me. As you can see I’ve had some low moments now my low moment may not be as bad as your low moments. But low is a relative term. So we all endure things differently. I just wanted to share this with you, so that you can see that everyone goes through something. Everyone has a story. But I want you to know that it wasn’t always like this. At one point in time, I needed someone to encourage and to lift me up. So that is why I’m able to do this for you today because I had that support system. I had those friends, I had those people at that time, when I was in my low place to come and encourage and lift me up. I just hope that you were encouraged by a part of my story. And again, that is just a minor part of my story. That is really like the beginning of my story. There’s just so much more that I have to share with you.

I want you to just connect with me like my Facebook page, follow me over on Instagram. And join my email list is any way that we can stay connected because again, this is just part of the story. This is part of the journey. This is only the beginning. There’s so much more in store so much more I’m going to share with you, I want us to help each other get through this because I can tell you even said it here right now there are things that I go through this day that I’m still reaching to others for encouragement for. So no matter how people present to you, no matter how much you think everyone has going on, trust me, everyone has a story. I’ve just blessed that I had this platform that I can hop on and share these things with you. Share what I’ve been going through share what I went through, share just the ways that I’ve made it through certain situation and hopes to reach back and encourage you. But trust we still face things every day as it says new level, new devil.

I hope by sharing my story that I encourage you to find the motivation to live. Remember, if you can’t find that motivation from within do it for your loved ones. Do it for your kids. Do it for Those who care about you and your presence, and those who want to see you win and see you succeed. This is just the beginning of my journey, the beginning of my story, just a glimpse.
