How do I know this?

I started my own personal development journey in 2013  because I had spent so many years giving of myself to others and meeting their needs that I eventually became miserable, overwhelmed and burnt out. Becoming a mom at 18, my life went to taking care of my son and meeting his needs. As I got older, married and had more kids, that naturally just progressed to me taking care of everyone around me and putting myself on the back burner. 

Add on to that my job and commitments outside of the home, my life became a whirlwind where I was trying to keep up with everything for everyone else, but nothing for myself. It was at that time, I realized I had to do something. I knew there was more to life than this. I knew I wanted more from my life than this. But how could I get it?

My personal development journey led me to remember the identity I had before I was a mother and wife. I was able to look at my life and see the areas where I needed to cutback to that I could find time for me in my “busy” schedule. I realized I was feeling overwhelmed because long ago I gave away my power and it was time for me to reclaim my power so that I could unleash my full potential in life. 

I buckled down and did the work! Was it easy? Of course not! It caused me to have sit and deal with myself especially in some areas that I didn’t really want to. However I knew, if I wanted true transformation then I had to do the work. Because as a mom, if I am miserable then everyone in my household is miserable too. It has a trickle down effect and that effect was not one I wanted to live with. So I made the commitment and did the work.
